Well it’s the second week of January and I’m finally posting my tbr. Honestly I still can’t believe it’s 2021 already. All fingers crossed that this year is a improvement, I really don’t want a repeat of 2020, thank you very much.
Anyway, this is my tentative tbr for January. I’m a chronic mood reader so I tend to switch genres a lot but I have a few arcs (!) to read and a lot of books on my physical tbr pile to get through before the sequels come out. I’m also hoping to participate in a couple of Readathons, but we’ll see what I end up having time for haha.
So, here we are:
ARCs:

All the Colours of Night by Jayne Ann Krentz – I actually already read this one but I thought I’d include it in my tbr still because I did read it this month. It’s the second book in the Fogg Lake trilogy and it was just a fun, thrilling ride filled with high stakes and lots of paranormal activity. And a little romance.

Much Ado About You by Samantha Young – This sounds like a super sweet, relaxed contemporary romance, which I definitely need after all the dense fantasies I’ve been reading lately. It has a woman leaving behind her life in Chicago to come to England on holiday and manage a bookshop. I mean, that’s pretty much a booklovers dream right?
Readathons

Buzzword Readathon: With this one I’m just going to read one book a month with the Buzzword, just so I have time for other books haha. The first month is “DREAM”, and I chose Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. I actually received this book for Christmas so what perfect timing for this readathon! This is a YA fantasy that originally came out in 2017. I missed out on it back then but it’s all over Bookstagram and I’m interested to know why it’s so popular still.
2021 Tackle My TBR Reading Challenge
I’m going to try and aim to read at least three books a month, either from my physical tbr or my ebooks. I just need to get some of the books I own already read before they bury me completely! The first month is themed by books released in 2020 and since I have a lot of those in my backlog I was totally spoilt for choice.
So this month I’m hopefully going to read the following:

All the Stars & Teeth by Adalyn Grace
This one has a sequel coming out at the very beginning of next month and…honestly I don’t know why I haven’t read this one yet?! It has vengeful mermaids, legendary sea monsters…and pirates! Who doesn’t want to read a book set on the high seas with pirates? So yes, definitely giving this one a read before the next one is released.

From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I tried to read another Armentrout book recently (The Darkest Star) and I really couldn’t get into it buuuuut I’ve heard only good things about this book and series and I’m determined to at least give it a go. Hopefully I’ll be just as amazed as everyone else.

A Heart of Blood and Ashes by Milla Vane
This title and the one above are so similar I keep getting them mixed up in my head–they’re also both fantasy romances which doesn’t help! I’ll be interested to see how different they actually are. I believe this one is grittier, and it has barbarians and a lot of blood and fighting so we’ll see. I also featured this on my books I’d read last year so I really should try to get this read soon!
So that’s me for this month! Which book are you hoping to start the year off with?
Happy Reading,
Lea x
I hope you enjoy Strange the Dreamer! And From Blood and Ash was my first book of 2020 and it did not disappoint!
