Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2021

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.

So these are all books I’m most looking forward to that are releasing this year! There are so many good ones coming out and it was honestly so hard just to keep the list at 10! Don’t be too surprised if I make a part 2 one day ๐Ÿ˜‚

  1. A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas

I’m pretty sure everyone knows (or has heard of at least) about this book. It’s also probably my most highly anticipated book of the year! The ACOTAR series is one of my absolute favourites and I can’t wait to be back with the Night Court gang. (And also Rhys.)

2. The Bone Maker by Sarah Beth Durst

I mean, this cover looks epic, honestly. And the story sounds very different and dark. It’s a standalone adult fantasy with a band of aging heroes who have a second chance at defeating the bad guy and getting revenge for the loss of one of their own.

3. You Have A Match by Emma Lord

A YA Contemporary about a secret sister and making friends at summer camp. It sounds super adorable and the perfect book to read as it slowly starts to get warmer!

4. Lore by Alexandra Bracken

Honestly this one has me sold based on the fact that it’s about Greek mythology and I love Greek mythology. A YA Fantasy, here our MC fled her past after the massacre of her family yet a childhood friend and a gravely wounded God forces her to face it as she battles to save humanity.

5. Forever Ends On Friday by Justin A. Reynolds

A YA Contemporary with a speculative twist. This one is about two friends, Jamal and Q, with one who has been dead but brought back for a certain amount of time, and the other who is surrounded by the grief of lost loved ones. It sounds poignant and very powerful and I always want to read more diverse reads so I’ll definitely be picking this one up.

6. Fable by Adrienne Young

Honestly, one word got me interested in this one: Pirates. A YA fantasy about the daughter of a powerful trader who is abandoned on an island the day after watching her mother die. Tough right? But our resourceful heroine is determined to survive and make her way back to her father’s side…with a little help from a handsome young trader.

7. Game Changer by Neal Shusterman

This is another one that’s quite hard to categorise. YA again, this one is about a young man who is hit on the head whilst on the football field and wakes up in a different dimension. It’s sounds very twisty and interesting and I’m definitely intrigued by how it will all play out.

8. Winter’s Orbit by Everina Maxwell

Space Opera meets Red, White and Royal Blue? Count me in! Now, I don’t read much Sci-Fi but I’m hoping this book will change all that, and honestly, I really can’t turn down that premise. This one has an arranged marriage, with the new couple trying to uncover a murder and stop an interplanetary war all whilst dealing with their feelings for one another.

9. As Far As You’ll Take Me by Phil Stamper

This one just screams found family trope and I love that. It’s a YA Contemporary about a boy who comes to London with little money and only his oboe for luggage. He finds friends, somewhere to live, and his first ever boyfriend, but his homesickness and anxiety are growing, and his savings are disappearing. It sounds like a very heartfelt coming-of-age story and I can’t wait until it releases.

10. Fireheart Tiger by Aliette de Bodard

An Adult Fantasy with a Sapphic romance and a gorgeous cover, of course this one was going to go onto my TBR! This one is about a princess with fire powers and the princess of the neighbouring kingdom who comes for negotiations.
