2020 has been…a bad year for everyone. But it’s also the year I got back into reading. From devouring romcoms in Summer, to rediscovering my love for fantasy in Autumn and Winter. I discovered many new amazing authors, developed a love of many new characters, and became obsessed with a lot of new series! Here are some of my favourites that I’ve read this year.
The Queen of Nothing by Holy Black

The last book in the Folk of the Air trilogy! After the cliff-hanger Wicked King left us on I was on pin hooks waiting for this one. Holly Black definitely delivered with this series ender and I will definitely be reading anything she writes in the future!
Crazy Stupid Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams

This was funny, sweet and very romantic. I absolutely loved both of the main characters, and the rest of the Bromance club. A very solid romcon that I can fully recommend to any fans of the genre.
The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley

I posted a review of this one recently, it’s definitely one that stole my heart. The amount of detail in it, the atmosphere and magic that Pulley created was astounding. She has a new book out next year that is one of my most highly anticipated reads!
Woven in Moonlight by Isabel Ibaรฑez

I reviewed this one as well a couple of days ago so I’ll keep this fairly short. Just the descriptions of everything in this book lured me in–the land, the atmosphere, the food. This is a book that’s really steeped in a diverse culture and I loved getting lost in it for a couple of days. It’s a fast, quick read and you’ll really find yourself rooting for the heroine. I just can’t figure out why it’s not more popular!
Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller

If you’re a fan of enemies-to-lovers and heroines who are decidedly morally grey then I can whole-heartedly recommend this one to you! I always find Tricia Levenseller’s books to be just a lot of fun, they’re not particularly thought provoking but I do always enjoy them and I loved the characters in this–Alessandra was a ruthless, determined character who knew what she wanted and went for it. I wish more heroines were like her!
Yes, I love Queen of Nothing and The Shadows Between Us!!
