Book Blog Newbie Tag

Hello everyone and welcome to my new book blog! I’m Lea and what you’ll find here will primarily be book reviews, along with other bookish related posts. Because I love lists there will be a lot of My 5 Favourite YAs or similar.

I thought I’d start with doing the Book Blog Newbie Tag, so you can all get to know me a bit better and hopefully find some joint interests!

1) Why did you start this blog?
So originally I created a Bookstagram but I found it quite limiting with what you can really do. Don’t get me wrong, I love Booksta and the community is amazing but Instagram is primarily a visual app and I really wanted the space to talk about the books I was reading — a book blog seemed like the perfect answer!

2) What are some fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging?
Well a new opinion is always a good thing, right? I’m hoping to review both older books and newer ones. I only really just got back into the YA fantasy world recently and rediscovering old favourites has been truly amazing. I’m hoping I can share that enthusiasm and enjoyment with all of you! Of course, I’ll also be talking about new books because you always need to grow your tbr!

3) What are you most excited for about this blog?
I would love to be able to introduce readers to a future favourite, and to help new books succeed. I see a lot of books that I absolutely adored and they just never get the attention and spotlight they need and I would love to help with that. But really, just finding fellow book readers to talk with is what I’m most excited about!

4) Why do you love reading?
What’s not to love about reading? You can visit far away lands (even faraway worlds!) without leaving the comfort of your sofa. You can fall in love, or make a new friend, all within the pages of a book. Being able to fully immerse myself even for a couple of hours is how I wind down after a tough day and I wouldn’t have it any other way. (Sorry that got a bit sappy!)

5) What series got you into reading?
Oh gosh, probably Harry Potter? It was the first series I ever remember binge reading, I received the first three as a present for Christmas one year and was able to read them during the holidays. I’ve not looked back since!

6) What questions would you ask your favourite authors?
I would love to know what first inspired them to write! What made them finally decide to put all these amazing ideas down on paper for future readers to get lost in. I think just the determination and courage it takes to write is amazing and I would be very interested to know just how hard mentally it is to be a writer!

7) What challenges do you think starting a blog will be the hardest to overcome?
I suppose finding an audience that will enjoy the content I create enough to want to come back to it? I’m very much an introvert so actually going out and interacting with other bloggers is going to be quite hard for me!

8) When did you start reading?
I actually had learning difficulties when I was very young and I hated reading. It was only when I went to secondary school that I really found a love for it and I’ve pretty much had my nose in a book ever since!

9) Where do you read?
Mostly on the sofa in the living room or in bed just before I go to sleep.

10) What kind of books do you read?
Generally fantasy, both YA and Adult. I also read a lot of a romance and I’m hoping soon to start reading more mysteries but we’ll see! Mostly what you’ll find on here is fantasy though, I just love being transported to other worlds.
